On November 3, 2024, social media backlash arose against Rita Daniela after she accused fellow actor Archie Alemania of acts of lasciviousness.
Instead of sympathizing with her, some netizens engaged in victim-blaming, questioning why she accepted a ride from him after a party.
During the gathering, Alemania allegedly made inappropriate remarks towards Daniela, including an explicit comment upon meeting and suggesting to another actor to “take her.”
Rita explained : “Thinking that he was already sober and that he went back to his being an elder brother who could safely take me home, I agreed to ride with him and cancelled my Grab ride.”
Despite these comments, Daniela felt safe enough to cancel her Grab ride, believing Alemania had sobered up.
Rita’s legal counsel questioned her decision to accompany him, prompting further scrutiny from online commentators.
