TV host Ion Perez has withdrawn his candidacy for councilor in Concepcion, Tarlac, for the 2025 midterm elections.
He announced his decision via social media on November 4, just a month after filing his Certificate of Candidacy.
In a TikTok video, he expressed his gratitude to supporters and apologized for stepping back from the race.
Ion said : “Sa mga kalugar ko diyan sa Concepcion, una po maraming salamat sa tiwala at suporta niyo na ibinigay sa akin.
“Pinapaalam ko lang po na hindi na po ako tatakbo o tutuloy bilang konsehal ng Concepcion,”
Ion stated he wants to prepare himself better for a future political role to serve his constituents properly.
“Gusto ko po munang ihanda ang sarili ko para hindi mapahiya sa inyo at mapaglingkuran kayo ng tama.
“Muli po, maraming maraming salamat sa inyong tiwala. Paumanhin po,” Ion added.
Before filing, he was sworn in as a member of the Nationalist People’s Coalition.
